Hey friends,
Tomorrow is the big day! If all goes as planned today we will be breaking ground for our new home tomorrow. Needless to say, we will wait to celebrate till the first scoop of dirt that comes out of the ground. This has been a long drawn out process, and we are so thankful to see things coming to an end.

We have had $41,000 given towards this project we need another 50-60,000.

I feel like I'm in Haiti again.....just hurrying up to wait. We were to break ground Tuesday on the new parsonage. Due to indecisiveness at the bank we are currently waiting on an commercial appraiser to appraise the value of our property before finalizing the loan. I have been working with that bank for over 7 weeks.
Our real desire is to be in our home by Christmas...originally it looked like Thanksgiving was a possibility. Should the appraisal take as long as the banker mentioned Christmas may be in jeopardy. Please help us pray that this process will go quickly and smoothly.
On the upside of things God has been providing funds needed for building. We have had close to $35,000 towards the $90,000 needed come in.
When this process begins expect lots of pictures on this blog. We want to share our excitement with you.

Late breaking news!!!!!!

Hello faithful friends,
Loan has been approved for our new home. Pray as we wait for the appraisal for this new home. The bank will only lend 80% of the appraisal estimate. This process will take up to 10 days after we meet with this person. We are looking at breaking ground the beginning of September.

We are really excited.....I just hope that this excitement isn't blown away by some unforseen circumstance. We want to have a home by Thanksgiving....not a huge request. Its been 7 months since we've been without a home.

While looking at cars.......this is what I came across. I was quite bummed that my family couldn't fit in. The trunk space was relatively small and there was no room behind the seats.
Lauren always talks about Corvette's (I wonder why). From day to day she changes from yellow, purple, and black when describing the Vette she wants to go on a date with me in.
I was shocked, the crazt dealership left the keys in the car and no salesman came out for the 15 minutes I looked over this car. I've wanted a Vette since just a kid........I've got one but its only a 1/16th scale.

New Happenings

Thought we'd be breaking ground for our new home this week. The loan has all but been approved, we are currently waiting on the appraisal process which could be 10 days. We are very excited, but really all we want is a home to live in by Thanksgiving. We have been out of our home for 6 months now. It has been very tough!!!
Ministry offers its challenges but overall it is a wonderful privilege to be in the work of the Lord. Every hardship makes me wonder if I can go another step......if perhaps the ministry is not for us. We have faced some huge obstacles........but we will go on!!! For Martha and I there is no other option.
Sunday night Carmaletta testified.....reminding me that the tough times are worth it. It is so amazing watching Carmaletta and now her husband Wesley growing and becoming a real part of our Church. The victories (plural) we've seen are keeping us in the battle.
Thanks for everyone of you who have prayed for us. Your prayers help keep us going. God has given us a great Church.....one that I recommend all in Evansville to attend.

For all of you faithfull few that wonder if we have a home yet;

As of today we are still living in a 2 bedroom apartment. Can you imagine how close we've become? 4 boys in one room and Lauren and Eli in ours leave proves to be quite a challenge. Many of the things we left in our "MOLDY HOME," smell terribly. When we finally get back into a home, we will be starting over with belongings the 2nd time since coming home from Haiti. In fact, we have never fully regained many items we sold to go to Haiti.
With that being said, we have absolutely no regrets over these past ..... we only look to the future. Which I say is very bright. We have some things going on that are extremely exciting!!!!
If all goes as planned we (the church) will begin to build a brand new home in the next 2 weeks. We are putting in beautiful hardwood floors of the highest quality 2 to $3 cheaper than the average stuff at flooring stores. Martha and I are planning on buying a new living room set and a bedroom set at a 70% savings. EXCITING!!!!!!!! Our goal is to be in this home by the middle of October. WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

Memories "Footsteps to Follow"

Two weeks are nearly gone since my older brother Randy went home. I praise God that Randy made proper preparations for his home going.
However, in spite of knowing he is in heaven, it doesn't ease his departure from our family. Randy was more than just a average person filling in the average role that an average person fills. Randy was far above average in my perception. I had the privilege of looking up to Randy as a role model for 18 years of my life. (The other 15 ministry separated us.)I followed his footsteps in 5th grade and learned how to play the trumpet, I then followed his footsteps and delivered the Fairborn Daily News, next, I followed his footsteps in 11th grade to GCCC and took Carpentry for two years, eventually, I followed his footsteps to Uni-Bilt Homes and work with him through the summer before heading off to UBC. I was never embarassed to admit that Randy was my brother! In fact, I had the best brother's in the world. (Rod....you're all I have left!)
Now, I choose as never before with renewed focus and vigor to follow the last footsteps he left on this earth. I chose to leave enough facts behind at my departure that everyone knows I'm in heaven. (Thanks Randy, for living a life that left us no doubts.) I chose to leave behind a legacy of loving God with all of my heart, like he left. I chose to model to my family that Christian service is a pleasure and awesome blessing, like he revealed these past 10 years driving the Church bus at the Franklin Bible Methodist Church. I chose to leave a clear testimony to my co-workers, my church family, and my children that God is real.
Someday, I'll take my last footsteps on this earth. Until that moment I've got footsteps to follow. As my feet take the last steps on this old earth..........I plan for my footsteps to follow the ones Randy left for me.
Randy I know that your not here to read this.....how I wish you were. However, I want you and all who read this "post" to know, "Thank you for leaving me footsteps that lead to heaven."
Someday, we will meet again.
PS. Randy, I'd like for you to finish the drywall in my mansion!!!!! Also, one memory I do regret.........I never told you how awesome a brother your really were.

Gone for 40 years! Carmletta left the church 40 years ago and has lived in since. She attended Salem Bible College for a semester. Several weeks ago Carmaletta wept her way back to God

She is growing, testify, and her face is aglow......PRAISE GOD!!!!

Tuesday morning at 9:30 Eli entered into this world. Mom and Eli are doing well! Martha had a terrible weekend leading up to Eli's entrance. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were frightful days for our family. Martha was facing life threatening medical conditions, but God intervened!!!! Tuesday morning the blood work came back totally clear. PRAISE GOD!! If her blood work is good tomorrow she'll be coming home. Pictures will be coming soon!

The saga continues!!!! We have been living in our "palatial fellowship" hall for over a month now. We can brag about having an indoor basketball court and plenteous restrooms, but it's getting rather old now. The adventure has wore off and I just wish it was a bad dream!!
It looks to be at least several more weeks before any conclusion can be made concerning the mold in the parsonage. At that point the church board will be required to make a decision. They have been great to work with so far. They have tentatively agreed to help with a down payment on a home and give us housing allowance so we can purchase our own home. We really like this potential option. Until then, "Home sweet Fellowship Hall."

Ice, Ice, Ice, and more Ice

Last night at 11pm everything clicked off at our place. Throughout the night we saw the flashes of transformers blowing, we heard the wail of fire engines rushing around town, and heard the snapping of large portions of trees and the loud thuds as they hit the ground. At one point in the night I awoke with red and white lights reflecting off the church and into our window. A large branch snapped and broke of our neighbors gas line.
I spent most off the day using the chain saw. Several large limbs fell onto the garage and onto the power line connected to the church. Throughout the day you could hear the frequent sound of limbs breaking off of trees.
Around 4pm, temperature's in the our "new home" the fellowship hall dropped into the mid 50's and with the temperature headed for 16 we left.......headed who knows where. We've finally found a nice warm place called the Hampton Inn.
Wow, we've had enough excitement for 2009 and are not out of the first month.

Moving again!

Yes, we are in the process of moving again. Wow, it seems we just moved in. Saturday a friend of mine (Phil) came to our home and performed a mold inspection. The results were not surprising. For years this place has had serious problem with water in the crawl space.....sooooo....geuss what? We have mold and lots of it. Nearly every floor joist in the old section of the house is covered with mold. Phil felt that this mold might be the toxic type do to the reaction he received while inspecting the home.

So, Saturday night we began a moving process. Thankfully our fellowship hall has two big bedrooms and 2 baths. What's so amazing is our new home has a basketball court indoors. Bids for the remedial process will range from $10,000 - 20,000. Several others have suggested the home needs jacked up and several layer of block be added to the foundation wall --- another 10,000. All of this was brought on by a desire to build a 2 bedroom addition - $15-20,000. Wow, hold just a second........my head is spinning! That's $35,000 - 50,000 for a house worth only at tops $70,000. Next week we'll know a little more.
If the estimates prove to come close to this amount.......I'm pushing for building a new home. If you read this and need a tax write-off, please contact me. In the mean time we'll just settle into our "second home."

We have now been here in southwestern Indiana for over a year. We don't currently have a church van or bus. We are really in need of a church van - we have been averaging 15-25 kids per Sunday. Needless to say our Ford Expedition is getting a good workout. Evansville is wide open. In a town of 125,000 we are the only sizable Holiness Church. The other one church is rather small (5-10 people). God has been blessing us with new children, several new teens, and a new family. In this picture you see a lady helping out.... she is from that family. Before criticizing my tolerance for what you might see, please be assured she is headed in a heavenly direction, not in a worldly direction. Furthermore, she was the only volunteer to help in our Christmas program. So, if your of the critical cynical type don't waste time leaving a note.....
We are not changing! We are not going another way! We are completely interested in using people who are coming in and headed the right direction -----holiness and heaven!

Being Healthy!

Our goal is to be healthy this year. In this past year Martha got involved with a great company that provides nutrients that are seriously lacking in our daily diets. These products are simply awesome! We have taken these products for 4-6 months and they have helped greatly.
The newest book used in medical school has a chapter devoted to the need of proper nutritional health. Many of the needed nutrients for our body are no longer found in our daily diets. Thus over the years Americans health has decline to 52nd in all of the world. That's ridiculous considering the technology we enjoy!

Happy New Year.

Its here 2009 has arrived! This year brings great promise with Obama, DEMONcrats in control, free cars, gas, and of course Health Care for all.
On a much more serious note this year can hold for us all great spiritual milestones. This year needs not be a year of "shoulda-coulda-woulda's!" Make spiritual goals, family goals, financial goals, and healthy goals. If you fail to plan your planning to fail. Be a success and don't settle for less.
Across a few blogs news has been spreading about another addition to our home. Yes, our church is considering an addition onto our home, 1,2oo square feet is kinda small. 4 boys in a room no larger than 10x10 is rather tight! We sure hope the church will proceed with this much needed project. Oh, and about that addition ------ were shooting for 2 bedrooms -- one to separate the boys and the other for a Home Schooling room. NOW for the real news, .................................................

Yes, our little world is still continuing. At 4:36am we were rudely interupted from our sleep by an earthquake. For 15-20 seconds everything shook and rattled. At 5.2 its the 2nd largest quake to shake our area in the last 40 years. It really didn't seem that bad considering the epicenter was only 66 miles away.

These designer cloths are environmentally friendly and very affordable. Just add water and mud... and whamo you can make a new set of cloths. When tired of a particular design grab the hose wash it off and start over again. The residue causes no harm to the environment. Try it soon, our weather has been far too warm!

We are truly thankful for God leading us to pastor here at this church. We realize now that God had to send us to Haiti in order to place us here. We had been part of a great Conference for years and had no plans to leave, but God saw otherwise. It's a homecoming for us, because we were with the Midwest Pilgrims for 6 years prior to leaving them in 2001. God is working, prayers are being answered, most of all God's Holy presence is very often sensed in our services. This past Sunday a young sinner man said to Rob, "One of these times I'm going to work up enough nerve to come to the altar." This was after Rob gave an altar call. God is working in Nick's life.

We had our first real Youth activity a few weeks ago. There was over 20 young people that showed up. Before that night we knew only 3 of these young people. Wow! All of the other Young people used to come to church regularly. We hope and pray that God will bring them back. It is also nice to be able to use your own facilities. God has blessed our church with a beautiful fellowship hall with a small area to play basketball and volleyball. The original intent was to start a school. Those plans fell apart after the steel building was purchased. Leaving us with a wonderful multi-purpose building.

Joshua and Alex finally got back together after 6 years. June, 2001 we moved to PA to take a pastorate. 7 hours of separation kept them from spending much time together. After coming home from Haiti we moved back "home." Instantly they hit it off, football, the Colts, dogs, and anything that moved became their mutual interest. Now their apart again, but looking forward to the Christmas program at UBC.

Daisy is only 10 months old. After realizing we would not be returning to Haiti in February, the boys begged for a dog. While in Haiti we had German Shepherd named Major. Major was excellent around Lauren and the boys. He made sure no one came near our house. (Sometimes very aggresively.) Realizing how good nature Major was, we made up our mind that our next dog would be a German Shepherd, thus we now have Daisy
